Finished work this morning, got a few odds and ends before heading home.

Stayed up to pop to the butchers to get some super tasty meats.

Then wait for this little monster to arrive.

((This is her after her clean))

Kinja'd!!!

The clean is below.

It wasn’t in a bad condition, just general crud.

You must have a fryer because that’s the only way to get onion rings like that.

It was a flat iron steak.

Rested from the fridge, seasoned then cooked in a cast iron grill pan.

Those prices are great and I am now jealous that I don’t have a butcher and if I did, the price wouldn’t be so reasonable. I’d be dead by now if I had that sort of access to steak.

No, these were oven cooked.

These were from frozen though, don’t shoot me. :)

Cranstons is a local North Cumbrian butchers. They have six shops that also sell local produce and from around the region.

They started down the road from me on a farm in Kirkoswald back in 1914.

It’s good supporting local business with great history and it’s more than just a shop. You get to know the staff and they you. You end up spending twice as long in there as your catching up with each other and what you’ve done since you last saw each other.

great job on the GT! Those plastic faces from the mk5 series were notorious for always looking so gross even after a few short jaunts on the freeway. Also, super jealous of the choice of cider. Those sound tasty.

The car is quite well looked after.

Unfortunately the top of the front wings are rusting from behind.

The owner has been quoted £1,000 to replace and paint the two front wings, he said he can repair them (cut out and replace the rusted area), but the repair will only last 18 months (I don’t see how myself).

Westons do quite a range of ciders.

I’m lucky in that the store I work at has about 80-90 different ciders.

So the pedal box in a RHD MKV is quite interesting. In the proper spec we get a huge dead pedal and the gas, sorry petrol pedal is basically right up against the tunnel, but it’s all very comfortable. I wonder why VW has the pedals right in the middle in the RHD version. I need to know these things!

Never really thought about it.

I guess the LHD cars with the accelerator up against the tunnel would make it easier as you can slide your foot up and down the tunnel side.

Judging by how dirty the carpet in my Mercedes gets I think that’s a good guess.

I’m sure the difference in pedal boxes probably comes down to crash standards. Judging by how small the “dead pedal” is on the RHD version I’m curious if it fares as well as the LHD does in the mid-overlap crash test.

I suppose the seating position in both LHD and RHD cars is designed to be close to the centre of the car for crash safety as you say.

When you say, dead pedal. That’s the clutch foot rest/foot rest right?

Yeah, the resting pedal. Thankfully VW knows how to design a car and it’s nice and large in our cars.
